This review of 2024 highlights the Ogdensburg Public Library’s programs and activities, featuring collaborations with community organizations and individuals. The forthcoming community report will present a comprehensive overview of our successful endeavors, excluding those that were regrettably canceled.
In 2024, the Ogdensburg Public Library presented a comprehensive range of programs, totaling 373 events. These included annual events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Leprechaun Break In/Scavenger Hunt, Halloween Party, Summer Reading, and Adult Winter Reading, as well as weekly events like take-home crafts, Story Time, and Music and Movement. Additionally, the library hosted monthly events, including Lego Play and In-House Crafts, and special events like the End of Life series, Eclipse Events, National Weather Service – Weather Spotters, Book Lover’s Celebration, Eileen Visser’s Northwest Passage Talk, Tax Prep Help, Barn Chix Exhibit, and Author Visits. The library welcomed 1,256 attendees to these events. Furthermore, the library facilitated 63 meetings with various community groups, including Literacy Volunteers, Senior Computer Skills Classes, and Engineers and Doctors from Canada working remotely for US companies, with 135 attendees.
The library’s online presence was also notable, with 168,983 website visits and 68,839 wireless users.
The circulation of library materials was significant, with 22,280 physical items checked out that ranged from DVDs to books and audiobooks, 2,572 e-books borrowed, and 1,821 items added to the collection. 11,649 items were loaned through inter-library loan.
The Ogdensburg Public Library is committed in 2025 to continued community efforts. While we were unable to secure the Tax Prep services due to funding constraints on their end. We have two series already for this year including the Fishing Series and an upcoming Financial Literacy Series. We will continue with our annual favorites and add more new programs! Don’t hesitate to come in and pick up our physical calendars each month or subscribe to our e-calendar which can be found on our website either on our front page or at https://ogdensburgpubliclibrary.org/events/ We are striving to make the library more accessible with the construction of a new lift enclosure. This upgrade will minimize weather-related disruptions to our lift and provide a more comfortable experience for patrons.
