Coming to Ogdensburg Public Library May 2025

Good Afternoon,

The Ogdensburg Public Library is excited to announce a new series of programs for children! We will be having monthly S.T.E.A.M labs featuring different topics relating to Science, Math, Engineering, Art and Math. During our first lab we will have experiments available around the library to learn about magnets. See you there!

The Ogdensburg Public Library, in partnership with Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, will offer a 6-week grief support group for adults grieving any type of loss. This will take place on Thursdays, starting in May and going into June, from noon to 1 pm. The dates are May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and June 5. Book lovers, rejoice! The Friends of Ogdensburg Public Library are throwing a book sale extravaganza! 🎉 From April 30th (4 pm - 7 pm) to May 1st (10 am - 5 pm), May 2nd (10 am - 5 pm), and May 3rd (10 am - 1 pm), come and get 'em! Oh, and May 3rd is the cherry on top - it's Bag Sale day!
Ogdensburg Public Library is hosting the Barn Chix and their artwork from May 6th to 17th. A reception, featuring the painters, will be on May 7th from 4 to 6:30 pm.
Join the Ogdensburg Public Library, 312 Washington St., for a Steam Lab Day titled 'Magic with Magnets' on May 10 at 9:30 p.m.
Book recycling had to be rescheduled! Bring your clean and dry unwanted paperback and hardcover books to the Ogdensburg Public Library to recycle them. Books must be at the library by May 13th in cardboard boxes, if available. NCLS will pick them up at the library on May 14.

Take home crafts! A New craft and book suggestions to pick up and take home every week!
Story Time, Ages 2-5. Stories, songs, crafts and activities to encourage early literacy! Thursdays at 11: 00 am
Come in to the Ogdensburg Public Library on May 21 from 6-7 p.m. to listen to Christine Rutherford, senior customer service representative at Community Bank in Ogdensburg discuss the different aspects of banking including setting up a savings and checking account as well as budgeting for long and short term planning.
Come to the library to play with legos, solve challenge builds and make friends! May 21 at 5 pm ages 5-12

Take Home Crafts

Description: A new craft to pick up and finish at home each week.

Music and Movement

Description: A preschool movement and socialization class. Jump your jiggles out and wiggle your waggles away with music, instruments and sensory play.

Story Time

Description: Stories, activities and crafts for young children. Socialize, gain early literacy skills and learn to love books during this preschool program. Ages 2-5

S.T.E.A.M Lab Day: Magnet Magic
Day: May 7 and May 10
Time: All Day
Location: Ogdensburg Public Library
Description: Complete fun 5 lab experiments around the library to earn your official degree in Magnetology (the Ogdensburg Public Library is not an accredited Magnetology university, your degree will just be a very nice piece of paper).
Ages: 8 and up

Book Recycling

Library Lego Time
Day: May 21
Time: 5:00 pm

Description: Complete a challenge or just experiment on your own with Lego bricks.
Ages: 5-12

Classical Inkings Book Club
Day: May 21
Time: 4:15 pm to 5:45 pm
Location: Ogdensburg Public Library Conference room
Description: Join us as we read and discuss classics, classical literature, history, archeology, sciences, and linguistics. We will look at both classics and the modern works derived from them. This month’s book club is the second half of George Saunders’ ‘A Swim in the Pond in the Rain.’

Teen Board Game Night – Once Upon A Time: Story Telling Card Game
Day: May 28
Time: 5:00 pm
Location: Ogdensburg Public Library
Description: Learn to play a new game and taste test Oreos.
Ages: 11 and up
