The Ogdensburg History Museum and Ogdensburg Public Library are proud to announce their collaboration on a year-long commemoration of the American Revolution. This exciting event will kick off on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 6pm at the Ogdensburg Public Library, located at 312 Washington St.
The highlight of the event will be the opening of the “Ogdensburg in the American Revolution” traveling exhibit. This exhibit will showcase the community’s role in the American Revolution and its impact on the local community. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the city’s history and its contributions to the fight for independence.
To add to the educational experience, Dr. Melissane Schrems will be the guest speaker at the opening event. Dr. Schrems is an associate professor of history at St. Lawrence University. She specializes in American colonial history and Native American history. Her insights and knowledge will provide a deeper understanding of the exhibit and the North Country’s role in the revolution.
In addition to the exhibit and speaker, there will be colonial treats available for attendees to enjoy. These delicious treats will transport visitors back in time and give them a taste of what life was like during the American Revolution.
For those looking for a bit of fun, there will also be a scavenger hunt with exciting prizes to be won. This interactive activity will encourage visitors to explore the exhibit and learn more about the city’s history.
But the collaboration between the Ogdensburg History Museum and Ogdensburg Public Library doesn’t end there. The library will also have a special display of American Revolution books recommended by PBS. This display will provide visitors with a list of recommended readings to continue their learning and exploration of this pivotal time in American history.
