Ogdensburg Public Library Referendum
The Ogdensburg Public Library is seeking $123,692 in additional funding through a proposed referendum on the upcoming Ogdensburg School District ballot. New York State law allows public libraries to use their school district’s ballot to request funding from school district residents in the same way the school requests special funding.
What is the cost of this increase to tax payers?
For homes assessed at $75,000 in the Ogdensburg School District and within the:
- City of Ogdensburg residents $71.63 annually
- Town of Oswegatchie residents $90.67 annually
- Town of Lisbon residents $119.38 annually
When and where is the vote on the Library’s Referendum?
- The vote is May 20, 2025 between 12 pm and 9 pm
- One location – Ogdensburg Free Academy

ADDITIONAL REFERENDUM
FUNDING – $123,692
- Increase Library hours to a minimum of 40.5
- Add additional Full time and/or Part time staff
- Make purchases for Collections
- Enhance programming offered to the community
- Add a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) program for the young people (elementary through high school)
- Enhance the Teen Room and Children’s Library
- Add or replace computer hardware and software
- Commit to maintenance contracts and facility maintenance
- Maintain copier and printer services
- Be proactive in the maintenance of the building
